OneStep's Walk Score Correlates with Functional Mobility Outcome Measures

Measuring functional mobility is essential for tracking recovery, yet individual gait parameters often fail to capture the full picture of a patient’s status. This research introduces an objective standard measure known as the Walk Score. By integrating select standard gait parameters into a single value, OneStep provides patients and providers with non-biased, easily accessible, and continuous feedback that displays a tangible trajectory of patient progress.

The study compared the Walk Score against the Lower Extremity Functional Scale (LEFS). The results demonstrate that the correlation of the LEFS score with the Walk Score is stronger than that of any individual gait parameter alone. This proves that the Walk Score effectively reflects a patient’s perceived function by combining specific gait data into a more comprehensive and meaningful metric.

This research suggests that the Walk Score may be capable of capturing clinical changes to a greater degree through longitudinal analysis. By providing a clearer view of the individual patient’s trajectory, the Walk Score serves as a powerful tool for monitoring recovery and identifying the "initial spark" of functional improvement.
